The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 713

Today’s Kick Start! (NKJV) John 19 17 And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, 18 where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center. 19 Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was:

JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Personal Obedience—(NKJV) The Lamb of God is THE LORD who IS our Passover.

John  19 31 Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him. 33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe. 36 For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, “Not one of His bones shall be broken.” 37 And again another Scripture says, “They shall look on Him whom they pierced.”

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

A lot has happened since the Sunday before; it is the human FEAR of mankind and the extreme HATE that Satan carries in His heart for God. The battle that wages in the heavenlies is not seen, (Ephesians 6) the conflict has raged long before the Garden of Eden witnessed man’s rebellion from the grace of God. Jesus came into this world and all of the events of His Life were open for everyone to see. See John 18 20 Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing. 21 Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said.”

Now; it is Thursday, the day is ending, the sun is setting. The tradition of the day of Passover is setting up for the day of ‘preparation’. Lambs are slain for the Passover on the Sabbath. Nicodemus and Joseph remove the body Jesus from the cross and PREPARE for burial in the rich man’s tomb nearby. While some mourn the loss of the man Jesus, as they thought He was the One who would rescue Israel from the grip of Roman rule, they failed to see that Jesus was and is far more precious than a human conqueror.

Even his disciples for ‘fear’ of the moment have forgotten that He said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.
