The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 597

Today’s Kick Start! (NKJV) Haggai 1: Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!

The Temple then, The Church now  – Haggai 1: “You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He Forever, IS God!

Spiritually, the ‘called out’ church of Jesus Christ today has labored. In the past there was great success, but sadly in many churches today the spiritual food is like a famine. Much of our worship service is spent singing and praising a god of cymbal and brass, The pastors of these congregations are focused on making people feel good and about their self-worth, Psychology; a science of the mind and behavior of the person. These worships and teachings focus on the human side of living and has nothing to do with the ‘soul’ as the soul belongs to God. Ezekiel 18:4.

This food and drink of today’s so called ‘contemporary church movement’ is very much like the days when God spoke to Haggai to explain to the governor of Judah – Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. That while you live in houses, paneled and comfortable, this temple of mine lies in ruins. Spiritually the church in the United States of America is in ruins. Make no mistake—if this were not true, do you think that our nation ‘spiritually’ would be in such a state as it is—today?

We do not have to rehearse our miserable and fallen condition, do we? Have we not had enough? Should God strike us again? As He states in Isaiah 1 (CJB) “Where should I strike you next, as you persist in rebelling? The whole head is sick, the whole heart full of disease. From the sole of the foot to the head there is nothing healthy, only wounds, bruises and festering sores that haven’t been dressed or bandaged or softened up with oil. A very vivid picture of the New Testament church in our country today!

Most natural minded people in our nation today have a bitter taste in their mouth when the words, church, God, religion, freedom to worship, or freedom of speech are spoken in public. God will strike His children again. Our clothing will become moth eaten and our wages will be taken away—until the day dawns; 2 Peter 1:19 (NKJV) And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;
