The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 712

Today’s Kick Start! – (NKJV) John 18 23 Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?”

Personal Obedience—(NKJV) The Lamb of God is THE LORD who IS our need.

John  18 1  When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered. 2 And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples. 3 Then Judas, having received a detachment of troops, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. 4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward, and said to them, “Whom are you seeking?” 5 They answered Him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am He.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them. 6 Now when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground. 7 Then He asked them again, “Whom are you seeking?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.” 8 Jesus answered, “I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,” 9 that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, “Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none.”

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

A detachment of troops, belonging to the Jews from the ‘chief priests and Pharisees had taken custody of Jesus. Apart from Peter, no harm has taken place and we remember that the LORD Himself replaced the severed ear of the high priest servant (see Luke 21:52). From the Jews, no physical contact was made, but when Jesus was sent to stand before Pilate, the governor, one of the Roman soldiers struck the LORD, for no significate reason. This began a series of beatings and other persecutions by the soldiers in the Roman Empire.

We must be aware that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are actively involved in the will and plan God. God is One; this identification of the Deity of God, which is more than man can comprehend is in control. Jesus as the God/man could have called out 60,000 angels to come to His rescue. Twelve legions of angels, even one of these angels are more powerful than hundreds of human beings, yet Deity did restrain these angels. God knew in His Soul that the His LOVE would prevail and victory over sin and death was in His Hands. 

Jesus spoke openly to the world, His message was not hidden in a basket, His glory was revealed throughout His three-year ministry. His glory was revealed on the cross just a few hours after He received that first slap in the face. His glory was revealed that Sunday Morning as the tomb where He laid opened and the angels revealed that HE HAD RISEN, just as He promised.

Every heart of man, woman, or child who holds this Truth in their soul reveals the GLORY of God and the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT bearing witness of this truth. 1 John 5 6 This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

This threefold witness of Heaven’s Throne and this threefold witness of man’s domain reveals the that the Lamb of God has victory over sin and death. In a world that cannot be trusted, there is ONE who can be trusted—This faith is in Jesus, He alone is victory over sin and death. Do you have this faith?
