1 John 5:1-4 CSB 1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of him. 2 This is how we know that we love God’s children: when we love God and obey his commands. 3 For this is what love for God is: to keep his commands. And his commands are not a burden, 4 because everyone who has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.

I remember ‘boot camp’, well that time was only sixty-two years ago so some things may be a little foggy! But, I remember having to ‘field strip’ our cigarette butts and then grind the tobacco into the dirt with our shoe. This was to prevent the obvious smoking areas from becoming littered with the filth caused by the bad habits of men and women. Now I consider this a poor analogy, but I am certain everyone will get the point.

Suppose we were allowed to see our sin as God sees it! If we are unsaved, we have no way to stripe our soul of the sin that is there. Instead of a pure white soul as God would have it, it would be black with the filth of every kind of sin. I do not think there is a need to list the sins of mankind, you know yours as well as I know mine. I like what Solomon has to say, summing up sin in chapter 9 verse 3 of Ecclesiastes—This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: there is one fate for everyone. In addition, the hearts of people are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live; after that, they go to the dead. Sin leads everyone to death.

If this were the total end to the events of all mankind, we would love the world. eating, drinking and be merry, and there are many who go this way. Since the way of the world is full of this vanity; Solomon sums up LIFE without the cleansing power and work of Jesus on the cross as void and useless What is the cleansing power of God? It is Love! Not the love as the world loves does God love us, but God’s love goes beyond the knowledge and wisdom of the world. God’s love reaches to your heart and soul by the way of ETERNITY, from where purity and holiness dwell.
God’s Love is truth, pure and Holy – 1 John 4:7 (CJB) 7 Beloved friends, let us love one another; because love is from God; and everyone who loves has God as his Father and knows God.
Satan’s hate is false, impure and unholy – John 8:44 (CJB) 44 You belong to your father, Satan, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. From the start, he was a murderer, and he has never stood by the truth because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he is speaking in character; because he is a liar — indeed, the inventor of the lie!
May I say in closing: All unconfessed sin resembles the filth and stench of any unkempt cigarette smoking area.
