The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 735

Today’s Kick Start! (NKJV) Psalm 19 The law/word of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;

 Personal Obedience—Walk in the Spirit and you will not carry out the deeds of the flesh.

Acts 4 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. 14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 16 saying, “What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. 17 But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.”

 JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

 The religious crowd that formed against the apostles and the man who was healed, are no different than today's religious crowd of people who tamper with the Truth of the Holy Bible. Religious people are well educated by the world’s standards, they look down on those who are not ‘like minded’. They brand these people as ‘untrained, and uneducated’.

 Maybe like me you remember a time before Jesus came into your life that certain person who always talked about his or her faith in God. There was a man named Ed who carpooled with me and another sailor from New London, CT to Taunton, MA each day. Ed talked daily about Jesus and Ed daily waved to all of the girls who passed us on the highway. Our laughter and ridicule of him and his double standard of faith and flesh was a real stumbling block for us.

 The point is this; all of us are fallen and sinful people, no matter if our fleshly attitude toward life is self-righteous or un-righteous, our standing with God remains the same, we are not holy! When the religious crowd came against Peter and John they looked at them as mere men, but the two wonders they did see were. (1) the lame man who was healed, and (2) that they had been with Jesus— what does this mean? They saw the Perfect Righteousness of Jesus in Peter and John.

 The miracle was notable and undeniable and it is the Perfect Righteousness of Jesus that healed the man. This came through Jesus to men who were filled with the Holy Spirit of God. a Truth that cannot be overlooked or denied. So, in order to control their religion and the people of Jerusalem they told Peter and John to stop speaking in the Name of Jesus.

 Controlling people is a long-standing edict of the world order, there is no such thing as a ‘new world order’ with the exception that as others take the helm, and a few pen and ink changes to the original edict of the fall of Satan is added for more or better control. But if you care to look into the perfect law of liberty, you will notice something. James 125 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. Why? Because that person has been and continues with Jesus.
