The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 727

Today’s Kick Start! – (NKJV) Isaiah 4110 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Personal Obedience—Walk in the Spirit and you will not carry out the deeds of the flesh.

Acts 2 22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you [a]have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; 24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. 25 For David says concerning Him: ‘I foresaw the Lord always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. 26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope. 27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

I must apologize since I was at the beginning of the apostle’s preaching yesterday and not in the middle of it as the scripture above relates; So, today I will try to get back on track. The apostle did not have days or weeks to develop a message, in other words he did not have a prepared message, I do not think that he even knew he was going to be speaking to such a large contingent of people. Like the rest of the people, he was, as commanded by God waiting for the arrival of God the Holy Spirit.

Fresh in the apostle’s mind is the Lord’s death and resurrection, also fresh in his mind is the LORD’s restoration of him on the banks of the sea of Tiberias. So it is the Holy Spirit who prepared the sermon that Peter would share that morning (the third hour of the day) about 9 AM. No one can be used of God the Holy Spirit who does not know the scripture. Peter like all of the apostles KNEW the scripture.

Some could argue that the apostles were taught by Jesus and I believe this is true, they were taught to know Him. Yet like the apostle Paul who spent three years in Damascus being taught one on one by the Lord (Ephesians 1 11-17). Paul was a Pharisee, He already knew the scripture, but he did not know the Messiah, such is was with the other apostles. They were not Pharisees, but they were Jewish men who were brought in the traditions of their fathers. They knew the scripture (we call that scripture the ‘Old Testament’), yet they did not know the Messiah, as He would teach them.

We will do more with this section of scripture tomorrow if God so wills, in the meantime;  we ought to give a more earnest heed to know God. Search the scripture, study to show yourself approved of and by God. God can use His children who know the Holy scripture. It is the Holy Spirit along with the Holy Scripture that can and does the great and mighty things that brings salvation to all men.

Titus 2 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. 15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
