The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 696

Today’s Kick Start! (NKJV) John 6 28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

Personal Obedience—(NKJV) The Lamb of God is THE LORD who IS our need.

John 6 30 Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” 32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” 35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

To this point we have seen Jesus as the Word of Life, the Lamb of Life, the Provider of Life, the Water of Life, and the Bread of Life. From chapter one, through chapter six Jesus reveals His Deity through the Fathers revelation of Him. Jesus clearly reveals that it is not Him who does things, but it is the Will of His Father. John 6 37All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

This chapter is difficult to digest, in fact; if you use human reasoning or a rational mindset to seek an understanding of it, you just may be like the disciples who resisted His teaching in the synagogue at Capernaum. Remember what Jesus and John the Baptizer stated in John Three; Jesus first said to Nicodemus; John 3 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

John the Baptizer stated; John 3 27 John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven. Then later in this paragraph he continues; John 3 30 He must increase, but I must decrease. 31 He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. 32 And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony. 33 He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true. 34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure. 35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.
