The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 517

Today’s Kick -Start! Psalm 119 71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn Your statutes. 72 The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.

Colossians 2;1-10 (NKJV) Philosophical teachings of Christ is darkness—not Light

2 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all [g]principality and power.

Jesus Christ: He was the same Yesterday, He is the same Today, He will Forever Be God!

Human suffering as I see it in the Pauline epistles is a critical component of being a child of God, no one suffered greater for the SIN of the world than The Christ. He died and rose again victorious over all sin and all death, see 1 Corinthians 15:50-58. Jesus suffered and died for the sin of the WORLD, He rose again to LIFE, victorious over DEATH the result of sin.

All of the apostles were martyred for their faith in The Messiah, even the apostle John suffered extreme persecution, but the Messiah saw him through it too use John’s pen one last time to write the Book of Revelation. The emissaries/apostles of Jesus Christ suffered for the ekklesia (the church), none of these men rose again for the SIN of anyone, all were saved sinners whose trust, like ours; is in Jesus Christ.

Today, most of the ekklesia in our ‘churches’ do not understand what it means to suffer for Christ. There is little spiritual richness in our behavior, most people do not have a full assurance of understanding of the mystery of God, which is the ekklesia, the church. So the treasuries of the kingdom of God are hidden, not because God eagerly seeks to hid truth, but because the present condition of the church is to seek after fleshly results, instead of the spiritual treasuries of the kingdom in Christ.

The church today seems to be overweight with isms and philosophies that cause the children of God to walk unwittingly away from a steadfast faith/trust in Jesus. Unaware that, while we have trusted the gospel of Jesus Christ, many are no longer rooted and established in the common faith that was originally taught and believed. Suffering for the Christ is given up for lazy results, like man in the book of Proverbs. 14 times Solomon warns his readers about a lazy attitude concerning a life with God, while all of his warnings are good, I like; Proverbs 12:27 The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting, But diligence is man’s precious possession.
