Guidance for the Young Proverbs 3: Spiritual
Insight (Part 1)
3 My
son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; 2 For
length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. 3 Let
not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the
tablet of your heart, 4 And so find favor and high
esteem In the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not
on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And
He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear
the Lord and depart from evil. 8 It
will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.
The Christ/Messiah – Meditation in
The Wisdom and knowledge of God
I know that most of us have favorite ‘go-to’ verses,
passages and books within the Holy Word of God to find comfort and help in
times of need. For me, Proverbs Three is one chapter that I favor very much. God
in His Mercy and Grace provides through His Wisdom answers for every
need of His children.
God is always promising, tugging, prodding, directing, pleading,
commanding and challenging us to return to His image and likeness. He uses the
gifts that He provides through His Spirit like, faith, hope, and love. He uses
promises and challenges recorded in His Word, He provides blessings and disciplines
to comfort us. Yet, we fail and if that is not enough, we fail Him again.
God never fails, can I get a witness? God never fails. Proverbs
3:1-4 “My son, don’t forget my teaching, keep my commands in your heart...”(CJV)
We read the words, but we do not anchor them in our heart and the result is a “failure
to obey”. The soul side of our heart longs to obey God, but if the seed of God’s
promises and challenges are not planted in the good soil (soul) it will not take
root and grow into the blessing of a prosperous and fulfilled life.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (CJV) Trust in Adonai (The LORD) with
all your heart, do not rely on your own understanding… The whole heart is
involved with trusting God, all of us have one heart with two compartments, one
side contains our person, it is where we dwell, the other side is our soul,
where God the Holy Spirit dwells. Here in Proverbs, we are challenged to use our
whole heart but to filter the human understanding that comes from our personal
side.
We are to use all our human faculties and spiritual gifts available in us to obey
God. if we have ‘life In Christ’ then God has blessed us with EVERY spiritual
blessing available, in return God is expecting us to respond and glorify Him by
using what He has provided, in this we must not to lean on our personal understanding
of this, because we cannot understand. Therefore in all of our ways, we are
mandated to acknowledge Him and He will to His Glory, direct our path.
