Philippians
3 New King James Version (NKJV)
Our Citizenship in Heaven
17 Brethren join in following my example, and note those who so
walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I
have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the
enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is
destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is
in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. 20 For our
citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the
Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it
may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is
able even to subdue all things to Himself.
The Christ/Messiah – Meditation in
The Wisdom and knowledge of God
Along with the seriousness of Philippians 3:12-17 of
pressing on it does not take much understanding that the apostle Paul is fervent
that we as believers and sons of God should be as he is. Now think on this; if
the apostle states that we should join him and follow his example, then our
response to his request should be, Amen Paul, I will follow your example. This
does not mean that we should all be ‘tentmakers’ by trade, what has that got to
do with anything.
Paul is stating that his example of living is abiding ‘In
Christ’ and one of ‘All for Christ’ by ‘Pressing forward’ toward our home and ‘Citizenship
of Heaven’ Paul concludes his charge for us with the words of Chapter 4:1 – Therefore,
my beloved and longed-for brethren, ‘my joy and my crown’, so stand fast in the
LORD beloved.
If you look around at your brothers and sisters in the LORD,
we should not judge, but some can bring us to tears, the Complete Jewish Bible
states that Paul was brought to tears because some of the brethren walked as
though they were enemies of Messiah’s Execution Stake. To me, this is
more than ‘death on a cross’ as over the last two thousand years, plus we have said
much to water down all that God has prepared for those who love Him. And there
is something to say about the following verses of John 2:1-12.
Verse 10 of John 2 – 10 And
he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when
the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good
wine until now!” Today we drink the wine of Messiah’s Execution Stake, maybe
once a week or twice a month, but there is coming a new day and the NEW WINE at
the Marriage Supper of the LAMB. How merciful and fulfilling this day will be,
if you do not NO that the Christ was crucified for your sin, you will not KNOW
or taste the New Wine. He has RISEN.
