Philippians 2 New King James Version (NKJV)
Striving and Suffering for Christ (Verses 1-4)
Unity Through Humility
1Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

The Christ – Meditation in The Wisdom and knowledge of God

All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living, thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for EVERY good work – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 and copied from the Complete Jewish Bible (CJB). As God’s children, we are called to be stewards of the manifold grace of God. A steward is someone who serves another. In the word of God we are all called to be stewards, we do not get paid for this stewardship, but we do get rewarded. There is a future reward and there is a daily one as well, let look at this as thoroughly as we can in these few moments, we have this morning.

We are to console one another; suffering is common among families. Do you consider that those in go to your local fellowship are members of your church family? They are more ‘family’ than your flesh and blood family, who are not saved. Sadly, our children, brothers, sisters, moms, dads, aunts, uncles and cousins who are not saved will be absent from our eternity with Christ. While these folks need love and consolation, we should not neglect to love and console our Father’s adopted children who are now our family in Christ, who also we will be with—throughout eternity.

In our walk of fellowship with one-another, we are to have real godly love, true fellowship in the Spirit, God instilled affection and mercy. We are to be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord and of ONE mind. Selfishness and conceit are not examples of ‘a humble-minded child of God’ toward one another but are traits of personal sin toward one another. A humble mind is one that willingly seeks to esteem another brother or sister in the LORD more highly than their own desire. This means that we esteem a persons, personal needs higher than those of our own, in doing so we meet the needs of us all as God supplies the needs of all of His children via His children – 2 Corinthians 9:12.
