Psalm 33 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
1 Rejoice
in Adonai, You righteous! Praise
is well-suited to the upright. 2 Give thanks to Adonai with the lyre, sing praises to Him with a ten-stringed harp. 3 Sing to Him a
new song, make music at your best among shouts of joy. 4 For
the word of Adonai is true,
and all His work is trustworthy. 5 He loves righteousness and
justice; the earth is full of the grace of Adonai.
6 By the word of Adonai
the heavens were made, and their whole host by a breath from His mouth. 7 He
collects the sea waters together in a heap; He puts the deeps in storehouses. 8 Let
all the earth fear Adonai! Let
all living in the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For He spoke,
and there it was; He commanded, and there it stood. 10 Adonai brings to nothing the plans
of nations, He foils the plans of the peoples. 11 But the
counsel of Adonai stands
forever, His heart’s plans are for all generations. 12 How
blessed is the nation whose God is Adonai,
the people He chose as his heritage! 13 Adonai looks out from heaven; He
sees every human being; 14 from the place where He lives, He
watches everyone living on earth, 15 He who fashioned the
hearts of them all and understands all they do. 16 A king is
not saved by the size of his army, a strong man not delivered by his great
strength. 17 To rely on a horse for safety is vain, nor does
its great power assure escape. 18 But Adonai’s eyes watch over those who
fear Him, over those who wait for His grace 19 to rescue them
from death and keep them alive in famine. 20 We are waiting for
Adonai; He is our help and
shield. 21 For in Him our hearts rejoice, because we trust in His
Holy Name. 22 May Your mercy, Adonai, be over us, because we put our hope in You.
Some
years ago while studying the Character of God, the LORD directed our awareness
to Psalm 33 and this reminds me of Proverbs 16:3 that when you commit your
works to the LORD, He will establish your plans. Also in verse 9 of this same chapter
in Proverbs, we find that the godly man plans his way, but it is our personal Adonai
who directs our steps. This truth should be LARGE in the framework of our soul.
Additionally, whether the unbelieving know this or not; a strong man is not
delivered by his great strength, or the size of his army, to rely on these
temporal characteristics of man is sure destruction.
So,
what does the Character of God do for the child of God when he or she meditates
upon Adonai (LORD). We learn immediately to rejoice in the LORD’s Righteousness,
we sing songs of praise and we worship Him with Joy, inexpressible and full of glory
(1 Peter 1:8). We meditate on the Words of God, that His word is Truth, that
God loves Righteousness and Justice, that the earth is full of the Grace/Goodness
of God.
We
readily understand that by the literal Word of Adonai the heavens were made,
that all of the host of heaven are a direct result of the Word and Breath of
His mouth. God is Almighty, He alone controls the oceans and seas and the weather, they obey
His every command controls, even that which He stores in the deep unseen storehouses. Thus
far, we have seen these attributes of Our God. Verse 4 – God is Truth; Verse 5 –
God is Righteous, He is Justice and He is Omnipresent with His Grace. Verse 6
and 7 – by His Omnipotence of Word, He controls Creation.
We
will look at the remainder of Psalm 33 on Thursday, in the meantime, enjoy the remaining
hours of this year and we will pick this up again next year, January 2, 2020.
My, my how time flies, but in eternity time will not be in any hurry—one day is
as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.
