Esther 6 New King James Version (NKJV)
The King Honors Mordecai
So Haman came in, and the king asked him, “What shall be done for the man whom the king delights to honor? ”Now Haman thought in his heart, “Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?” And Haman answered the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor, let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, and a horse on which the king has ridden, which has a royal crest placed on its head. Then let this robe and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that he may array the man whom the king delights to honor. Then parade him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him: ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’ ” 10 Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry, take the robe and the horse, as you have suggested, and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits within the king’s gate! Leave nothing undone of all that you have spoken.”
Esther – Meditation in The Wisdom and knowledge of God

Proverbs 16:18Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Psalm 10:2 – The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.

Right up to the day and moment of evil judgment! – Haman is about to ask the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows prepared by Haman’s servants for just that purpose. The king has been awake most of the night, as the scripture reveals, his sleep fled from him. Ever had that happen to you? What did you do? Grab a book, read for a few minutes and fall asleep, or if something interesting was found in a chapter or two, your concern kept you interested until the concern was satisfied.

The chronicles read to the king that evening were of five years before when Mordecai was sitting within the gate (Esther 2:19-23). ‘Sitting at or within the gate’ in the history of the Old Testament is where men; kings, peasants, farmers, and others provided information regarding current events. The events read to the king that night were of two men [Bigthan and Teresh] who plotted to kill King Ahasuerus, Mordecai reported the plot to Esther and Esther revealed this to the king.

Normally no one shows up at your door during the night, so I believe that Haman had purposed to be in the presence of the king when the king would normally be prepared to start his day. Haman has his agenda; his agenda will never be revealed to King Ahasuerus. It is the king’s priority for the day will go first. Haman listens to the king’s decree and does what he is told to do. Choking on his pride, Haman's destruction is imminent. It may be that the hairs on the neck of Haman are beginning to bother him with fear.

Our nation is at such a moment in time, the stage is set. Men and women who are warped in their mind by pride and arrogance are standing in the court, they are ready and prepared to hang our leader. It is time for our God to step-in and reveal to our leader; that God is in control of man’s heart. Proverbs 19:21There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand. Pray that our leader will listen to God’s counsel and react accordingly.
