Christ’s = Our Only Hope

Avoid Destructive Doctrines

2 Peter 2:1-3 – But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

Jesus, the Christ, God’s Messiah

All of the New Testament writers agree that in the ‘latter days’ or ‘last days’ there will be an increase in false teaching. The apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 4 states that false teaching will be ‘expressly or explicitly’ taught, deceiving even the elect (those saved by grace). These teachers of ‘apostasy’ who have abandoned their faith in God have given their faith over to the deception of demons by listening to the deception of false spirits of men led and fallen away from a Holy faith. Doctrines that are developed by demons and taught by false teachers. The apostle Peter projects our understanding to realize that these false prophets were among the brethren in his day and that men and women like them, are among us today.

The apostle John calls false teaching the spirit of the ‘Anti-Christ’, see 1 John 4. Even Jude, the LORD’s half-brother, devotes his small epistle to apostasy, his intention was to present a short message of comfort and sanctification his readers, but heeding the Holy Spirit, he wrote about the ‘earnest and diligent’ need for each child of God to contend for the ‘faith’ which was delivered ONCE to the (saints). There are not many gospels or many gods, nor are there many doctrines. In Jude’s epistle, Jude reveals the failure and doom of the past false teachers and the failure and doom of all future apostates.

Now we could say more, but it is important that you do some study on your own as Jude states in his epistle, verse 20-21. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. I like what Jude has to say with the words in these verses he states “YOUR MOST HOLY FAITH” in other words, “do not mingle your FAITH in God with the false doctrines of the demons of this world. Pray in the Holy Spirit and KEEP your Life in Christ separate from the lust of the world, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Keep looking for the mercy of God in Christ/Messiah that leads, guides and directs us to Eternal Life.

The apostle Peter states that by covetousness, false teachers make false promises, exploiting the children of God by deceptive words. God’s judgment was not idle in the past as evidence from the beginning of Genesis, (Jude 5-18) even to the end of Revelation, the destruction of false doctrines and teachers is steadfast. Why because the judgment of God is not idle, it is ongoing. God does not sleep or slumber.
