Christ’s Example to Be Followed

2 Peter 1:1-4 – Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Jesus, the Christ, God’s Messiah
Have you considered the Spiritual riches of being a child of God? If you are one who has obtained a precious FAITH in our God and Savior Jesus Christ, like the faith of the apostle Peter, you are indeed blessed: God in His mercy has blessed you with grace and peace. This is a gift that the people of the world around you cannot know or understand because they do not have a PERSONAL faith in God.

It cannot be explained or emphasized enough that a right relationship with God through the Perfect Righteousness of the Person of Jesus Christ/Messiah is absolutely different from institutionalized religions. Through the Christ, God gives, by His Divine Power ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness. 1 Corinthians 2:13 – These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Woe to the child of God who believes that he or she can live with ‘one foot in Christ and one foot in the world’. Many saints find themselves in this common practice since they willingly find churches that teach or preach doctrines of demons as we will see in chapter two of this epistle.

We have by the grace and mercy of God, been given great and precious promises. These were given (past tense) on the day we believed the gospel. The faith we have in Jesus is real, more real than physical life. Now in Christ, we have been made complete, yet like the physical child who matures, we who are ‘born again’ must mature in the Divine nature we have been given.

Moms and dads enjoy watching their newborn babies grow and mature. God the Father has the same enjoyment when He watches His children actively abiding in His Divine Power and growing in His exceedingly great and precious promises. This is important when we partake of God’s Promises we are escaping, or spiritually growing away from the corruptible destructive promises of the world which continues to wallow in all the lust of the world.
