Christ’s Example to Be Followed

1 Peter 5:5-10-11 – Submit to God, Resist the Devil

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 5:12-14 Farewell and Peace

Farewell and Peace By Silvanus, our faithful brother as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand. She who is in Babylon, elect together with you, greets you; and so does Mark my son. Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Jesus, the Christ, God’s Messiah
In these last days, God has spoken to us through His Son, offering us a peaceful, holy and Spiritually prosperous life as a child of God. This offer of ‘Justification and sanctification’ came to us through the vicarious sacrifice (in our place) of the Son of God (Messiah). The life of Jesus was not pleasant as He daily witnessed people who were made in His Image destroy His image via the same sin of Adam. What is that sin and what does it look like, today? Full-blown, it looks like the following!

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 – Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:11 – And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

In similar ways, the Holy Spirit allows us to suffer as we watch our children, our community, and even our church family involve their days and years in the sin of the world. Also, we suffer when drawn away from God’s grace and find ourselves back in the muck and mire of our past ways. We should not resist the sanctifying work of God because, in discipline and love, God will establish, strengthen and settle each of us as we respond to His grace. It is God’s Will to work in our lives, often through suffering. This suffering actually reveals to Glory of God to the world and blesses us; His children.

Jesus through the Holy Spirit revealed to you and me the GRACE of God, that has appeared to all of the world. Titus 2:11-14 – For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
