Christ’s Example to Be Followed

1 Peter 4:7-11 – Serving for God’s Glory

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus, the Christ, God’s Messiah
Proverbs 18:10 – The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. On earth, where we raise our children, there is no safe place. As a parent! And I know first, second and third hand; since I have great-grandchildren, that the only provision for safety to live in a land saturated with licentiousness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, and idolatries, is to seek out the Glory of God. The main problem is that we are born sinners with ignorance for God. Therefore, we enlist in one or more of the sins of the world and become like the world – Sinners who are actually worse than our ancestors. Now, you may reject what I have written, but be honest… is the world around you getting better or worse? If you say better – your ignorance is showing, if you say worse, you have a wonderful opportunity to serve God and see His Glory on earth. Matthew 6:9-13.

However, as a child of God, we see and know that the end of all things is nearing, as the apostle Peter explains. We see the seriousness of being watchful in our prayers. God is our Father; we are His children. People who love their earthly father give reverence to him. Likewise, do you give reverence to the Name of God for He is ‘Holy’? The earth we live on is a mess, we helped make it a mess, do we seek God’s plan on the earth by asking Him for His Will to be carried out on earth as it is in heaven, do we even consider that this is POSSIBLE?

Do we ever seek forgiveness, do we ever forgive others? Do we seek our Father’s deliverance from evil and temptation? We know the answer to these questions, do we not? But here is another question. Are you serious to see the glory of God, or do you just string yourself along by slapping God with feeble attempts of confession? Do you ever consider that your Father in heaven has all of the power and glory to have victory over the sin of the world? Jesus states clearly; “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Living by faith and in the confidence of hope, we cover a multitude of sin with love.

Stop grumbling, be hospitable, live as ‘overcomers’ God has given each of us a ‘spiritual gift’ use these gifts to glorify God. The ability to do so is given to us by God who has also given us the Holy Spirit. God is our Father; Jesus is our LORD and the Holy Spirit guides us into ‘all Truth’. There is nothing else for God to do, except giving us a wallop with a 2 X 4 if we fail to get serious about our life in Christ.
