The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 161.1

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Luke 12:1-5
There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. “Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
An excerpt from yesterday’s devotional: In our passage, the point of the LORD is not that of being a newscaster but placing the death of these people beyond human judgment, in fact; Jesus does not look at the death of human beings as we do. All humans, past present and future will die a physical death. SIN (original, and caused by Adam, see Romans 5:12-21) is the cause of all physical death. (Hebrews 9:27) It is required (appointed) for all to die once after that the judgment. This judgment carries a reward or a penalty. God is not willing for anyone to perish, so through His Son Jesus, God provides the way of faith, Ephesians 2:1-10, for you and me to change our mind. To refuse this gift from God is to perish in Adam’s original faithless act of sin (physical death) and to perish in your personal sin of rejection of God’s sacrifice; the Lamb (The second death) The great white Throne Judgment. Without faith, it is impossible to please God… Hebrews 11:6, see the full verse.

After publishing yesterday’s devotional, much of my thinking revolved around this paragraph. I felt that there was something wrong with it and even spoke briefly with my pastor. He immediately solved the problem I had, but this did not prevent me from thinking throughout the day of how I might clarify my thoughts and clear any reader’s confusion, I am thankful for the pastor's help as this sets up the devotional for today.

I need only to remove one sentence from the paragraph of yesterday, but then I want to expound on that sentence. I think for all of us, it will be exciting, so here is the sentence: “(The second death) The great white Throne Judgment)”. God is absolute Holiness and throughout the history of man on earth the one thing that stands out in history, is God’s absolute Righteous Statute of RIGHT over WRONG, it is a standard that we humans fail at daily. Right and wrong is not what Jesus died and rose again for! Jesus died and rose again for SIN. While it is true that ‘right and wrong’ can produce sin, it is not true that ‘right and wrong’ is a sin. At the Great White Throne, all the people who have rejected Jesus Christ as their personal Savior will be judged for the life of RIGHT and WRONG deeds (works) of the flesh.

Note that not one word of sin is mentioned in Revelation 19:11-15, victory over sin was accomplished in AD 30 when the Christ physically died and rose again. He (Jesus) defeated SIN. Sin is the deception that Satan caused in the Garden six thousand years ago. Since then humankind seeks to please God with human works (deeds). There are degrees of punishment at the Great White Throne judgment, but all unbelieving people (those who have rejected Christ) will perish in the Lake of Fire, reserved for the devil and his angels.
