1 Peter 2:1-3 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Jesus, the Christ, God’s Messiah

This section in the Second Chapter of the 1st Epistle of Peter is still the discourse of chapter one, verses 23 through 25. However, this small section of the Second Chapter is packed with Spiritual Truths that ought to add volumes to our Spiritual Maturity. Sadly, much of what the Apostle has to say is not practiced in churches today, and if it is, it is usually the makeup of our human good platform, rather than allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us into a truthful platform. We are all guilty before our God when we fail to lay aside MALICE, that is; intending to due good for God apart from the human spirit rather than the Holy Spirit. It is a popular evil practice in church and the workplace.

What about GUILE? Oh you say, I would never commit guile, I don’t like the word and I am not sure I know what it means! Not knowing what it means to commit this sin, does not excuse us. In fact; many sins of the believer stem from a mindset of guile. The children of God are indeed, positionally seated in the kingdom of God in Christ and since we are still in this body of flesh, we are experientially living our life in Christ with our sinful nature. James 4:7 – Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. It is a failure to observe the spiritual limits of abiding in the Spirit. Psalm 19:12-13 as the word, presumptuous is an Old Testament reference to guile.

HYPOCRISY! Guile and hypocrisy the same road, while guile is practice goodwill in the flesh, hypocrisy is pretending to be someone whom you are not. Churches are full of ‘saved hypocrites’, so what makes a child of God a hypocrite? It is the person who does not realize that they were born again with INCORRUPTABLE SEED and live daily in the corruptible seed of failing to abide in the Spirit of God, 1 Peter 1:22-25. All of these sins that the children of God practice, the result of being disobedient to God resulting in all manner of EVIL and ENVY, which is the character of the DEVIL.

Every child of God MUST desire to live above our lowly sinful desires. If we have tasted that the LORD is GRACIOUS, if we are not tasting the PURE and SINCERE MILK of the WORD in order to grow Spiritually in the grace of God, the only course a child of God can take is the sinful pathway of guile, hypocrisy, evil and envy.
