The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 238

1 Peter 1:22-25 – Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the LORD endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

Jesus, the Christ, God’s Messiah

Because we have been born again through the Mercy of God, our lives are changed forever. This forever is not for us to look at the future when we will be changed into His likeness and see Him as He is. As the scripture says in 1 John 3:2 – Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Scripture is to be studied, yes, it is! However, scripture is also to be lived, or as some would say PRACTICED, practiced so that you become equipped as a person of God. “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15.

We are given abundant life (John 10:10 and 1 Peter 1:3), this abundancy does not come to you and me in any other way than through the MERCY of God. It comes to us through the LOVE of God, giving us a REAL HOPE of a present and eternal future with God. Our FAITH depends on living in the abundance of our life in Christ.
