Jesus Appears to His Disciples

Luke 24:36-43 – Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? “Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?” So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. And He took it and ate in their presence.

Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
As this first day (Sunday) continues, I am reminded of Psalm 19:1-4 – The heavens declare the Glory of God and the firmament (the expanse of heaven) shows His handiwork (the work of God’s Hands). Day to day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line (measuring stick) has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them He (Jesus/Messiah) has set a tabernacle (tent, or home) for the sun.

Creation carries the news of God’s existence to all parts of the world! In our understanding of God, of His Power and Wisdom, we fail to comprehend that God does not need us to reveal Himself, Creation KNOWS God.  Luke 19:39-40 – And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” But He answered and said to them, “ I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” Creation knows the LOVE of God; it is mankind that willing fails to know and love Him. So strong is our doubt and lack of faith, that like the apostles and disciples when we hear for the first time “peace to you” we fail to see the love of God that sent His Son to physically die for the sin of the world, providing the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Also, we need to know that Jesus Christ was ‘alive in His physical body’ He was not a spirit, nor was His body glorified at this meeting with His disciples and apostles. Jesus showed these men and women His hand and feet, that He truly was the Man He was before the crucifixion, the only visible difference was that at this precious moment, there were scars from the nails that were in His Hands and Feet, also the scar of the spear that pierced His side and lets not forget, when we see Him, we will see the scars; to which are the visible results of our sin as He bore the penalty of the sin of the world. Romans 11:33 – Oh,  the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
