When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked if the Man were a Galilean. And as soon as he knew that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time. Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him. Then he questioned Him with many words, but He answered him nothing. And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused Him. Then Herod, with his men of war, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate. That very day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, for previously they had been at enmity with each other.

The outline above is extracted from Dr. Thomas Constable’s research regarding the final day of the physical Life of Christ. These scriptures give a thorough account of all that transpired that Thursday/Friday. We must remember that in those days the Jewish day began at sunset. Jesus was placed on the cross before sunset (the first watch). The sun was still up and shining brightly but obscured until the ninth hour. I know this is jumping ahead a bit, but it is hard for me to contain my thoughts around the religious and civil trials.
I feel as I always do, that to say anything about all that took place in this twenty-four-hour period is to be found guilty myself of the death of Christ/Messiah, and I am, yet like many of you who read this; we are ‘redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb” and we are now clothed in His Righteousness. Yet, even knowing this, we often fall short of living in the LIGHT. As when I was an unbelieving gentile, I was a blasphemer and much more toward my LORD and on which side of the fence would I have been if I were one of the thieves on each side of the Messiah as He suffered for the sin of the world.
The world in which we live does not teach us LIGHT, it teaches darkness. Now I know that we know this, but does knowing have the effect on us that it ought to have? “in the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him, NOTHING was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did on comprehend (apprehend, capture but rejected) it.” – John 1:1-5.
