Luke 20:20-26 – And the chief priests and the scribes that very hour sought to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people—for they knew He had spoken this parable against them. So, they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor. Then they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth: “Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you test Me? Show Me a denarius. whose image and inscription does it have?” They answered and said, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” But they could not catch Him in His words in the presence of the people. And they marveled at His answer and kept silent.

Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah

Pastors of my past, that is over the past forty-nine years, often referred to the stubborn heart of man. Using the scriptures of the prophets and priests and using the scriptures of the apostles and disciples of God, they gave exhortation on subjects like “Those stiff-necked Jews” or “The deceitfulness of a hardened heart” See Hebrew 3:13 or Jeremiah 17:23. Often when talking with people I a reminded of our PERSONAL ability to be stiff-necked or hardened by deceit. To simplify my subject, I will be referring to both the Jew and Gentile in this message as SAVED by God’s decree and not any man-made deceit.

Both the Jew and Gentile by deceit can develop a hard-heartedness that can and often is, dressed in their Sabbath or Sunday best. They that are Jew; look, smell and react to the message just as father Abraham. They that are Gentile, of course, look, smell and react like the apostle Paul and if you are prone to be legalistic, you may look, smell and react like the apostle Peter.

In our rather rapid travel through the Gospel of Luke; we are now approaching the last few days of the suffering Messiah. His life as the SINLESS SON OF GOD is approaching the END of God the Father’s Will for His Son. Note John 6:38 – “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” All of us need to be on the same page with Jesus and His desire to co-exist in the harmony of His Father’s Will. A biblical word to co-exist is ‘reconciliation’

Jesus is the Gospel of God; Romans 1:1; 15:16 and 2 Corinthians 11:7 – The point, Jesus obeys the will of His Father and does not alter the Will of God. We who are saved by this gospel have no business being Pharisaical; legalistic; Sadduceeic; liberal, or any outright projection a hardened or stiff-necked deceitful heart of unbelief. Somewhere along the way we pick up on a message from someone that is outright damnable, we begin looking a scripture through tainted lenses of false teaching and before you have time to reconcile back to the Will of God, you begin doubting. If you stay in this condition long enough, you become like those in Hebrews 6 who need to be re-taught in the elementary principles of truth. This does not mean that you have lost your salvation, you are still a disciple, More in the days to come.
