John 12:12-19 – The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ The King of Israel!” Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: “Fear not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a donkey’s colt.” His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him. Therefore, the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness. For this reason, the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign. The Pharisees, therefore, said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!”

Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah

(Matt. 21:1–11; Mark 11:1–11; Luke 19:28–40; John12:12-19 ) – All four gospels record the events of Jesus as He approaches Jerusalem. This is an important event for the Kingdom of heaven (at hand) and the kingdom of God (available) to the world. All of the disciples and apostles are ‘at hand’ While the ‘available’ world watches as recorded by John, here in John 12:19. The events of ‘the Triumphal Entry’ reveal the final turning point in the ministry of our LORD, While the first events of the LORD Jesus are pictured in (Matt 3:1-12; Mark 1:1-4; Luke 3:1-14; John 1:19-28).

I chose the John 12 passage to remind us that there is a lot going on in the life of Christ, while He was approaching His final days on earth, He did not stop, even though He lamented over Israel’s rejection of their Messiah, Jesus continued to comfort those disciples following Him. Raising Lazarus, the blind man Bartimaeus and a host of other signs and wonders that brought crowds of people to salvation faith. Note again John 12:19 – The Pharisees, therefore, said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!”

RELIGION is hostile to GOD and as Jesus moves closer to the cross, we will see the powerful sway that religion places on the so-called ‘civilized world’. So as the song reveals “Were you there, when they crucified the LORD?” Were you THERE? Don’t lie against the obvious TRUTH! We all were there until the day dawned and the morning star arose in our heart. 2Pe 1:19 – And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; Rev 22:16“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
