The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 181

Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So, when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so, it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So, Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? “Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”

Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah

Lest we forget, Jesus is on His way to Jerusalem to accomplish His Father’s will. I believe it is late winter, spring is just a few weeks away. As the final day's pass, Jesus is still teaching His disciples about faith, about believing and trusting. The gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are written for the purpose of teaching those who read these books of ‘Good News” that FAITH IN GOD is the avenue to the Kingdom of God, via the Kingdom of heaven on earth (which is always with us, even today, this very hour). This truth does not come by physical observation, it comes by personal observation – like; those that have an ear of faith, let them hear what the Spirit of God has to say.

This event of the ten lepers who were healed, reveals that not all that hear the Word of God react to it by faith. The scripture states that the LORD and His disciples passed through Samaria and Galilee. The LORD also identifies the one who returned to Him was a foreigner (a Samarian), assuming the others being Jews, and disciples of Judaism did not give thanks to God but followed the Law given by Moses (see: Leviticus 13). Faith is not a ritual or a religion and does not glorify God and we see this throughout the ministry of our LORD. The men, women and children who follow Jesus, follow Him because they have exercised ‘personal faith’ in Him.

All of us who are redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb are told by the Spirit of God to “GO”, go your way for “faith” has made you “well”! Praise the LORD! And again I say – PRAISE THE LORD!
