SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Luke 12:1-5
There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered such things? “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. “Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
Discerning the signs of the times in which we live in godly righteousness is okay with God, this type of judging glorifies God and is a blessing to you and me. We observed this last week in Luke 12:54-56. However, when people become our reason for judging we will never be blessed of God, God is the only One who judges Righteously. Here in our current passage, we see that Jesus condemns judging – point blank. Apparently, the Galileans (Gentiles) were making sacrifices to gods in Judea and Pilate (he was half-Jewish) became aware of this event. This angered Pilate to the point of slaughtering these Galileans and mixing their blood with the blood of their sacrificed animals, religious people can be martyred for their beliefs.

Accidents do happen, buildings fail and fall. Manmade objects, cars, trains, and planes; fail and people are accidentally killed, we see this daily in our lives today. The tower that collapsed in Siloam and killed eighteen was not a signal to judge these folks as sinners, just as it is not a signal or reason for you or me to judge the shootings in our churches, synagogues or schools as those killed as being sinners. However, this does indicate (signs of the times) that if there is a JUDGMENT, it can only be a judgment of God on a rebellious and evil nation, as a whole. Can we not understand this? The answer is no, we do not understand, making God’s future judgment stronger.

In our passage, the point of the LORD is not that of being a newscaster, but placing the death of these people beyond human judgment, in fact; Jesus does not look at the death of human beings as we do. All humans, past present and future, will die a physical death. SIN (original, and caused by Adam, see Romans 5:12-21) is the cause of all physical death. (Hebrews 9:27) It is required (appointed) for all to die once after that the judgment. This judgment carries a reward or a penalty. God is not willing for anyone to perish, so through His Son Jesus, God provides the way of faith, Ephesians 2:1-10, for you and me to change our mind. To refuse this gift from God is to perish in Adam’s original faithless act of sin (physical death) and to perish in your personal sin of rejection of God’s sacrifice; the Lamb (The second death) The great white Throne Judgment. Without faith, it is impossible to please God… Hebrews 11:6, see the full verse.

We have original and personal sin, however; God through His Son Jesus has judged all original and personal sin and placed in on the Lamb of God. “Col 2:14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”
