SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Luke 11:24-26
“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there, and the state of that man is worse than the first.”

I do not know of many (or even a few) who like to discuss or teach about passages of scripture that refer to the unseen world of spiritual darkness. The spiritual underworld is real, it does exist. Deception (the lie) is the main tool used by Satan and his army to destroy you and me. In this deception, he seeks to overthrow God and establish his own kingdom. God is the Creator, Satan is a created being. God’s Kingdom is Eternal, Satan’s kingdom is temporal, God’s Kingdom is Holy and Real, Satan’s kingdom is unholy and counterfeit.

“The world around us is fallen.” in Christian circles, we say things like this often and as a result, these words lose the punch or meaning. Seeking to bring some understanding regarding temptation in the life of a child of God, some years ago, C.S. Lewis wrote a fictional book titled “The Screwtape Letters – “The Screwtape Letters is a Christian apologetic novel. It is written in a satirical, epistolary style and while it is fictional in format, the plot and characters are used to address Christian theological issues, primarily those to do with temptation and resistance to it.” (extracted from a google search). The book is easy reading and entertaining. I recommend it if you wish to understand the conflict we face daily (even moment by moment).

The child of God who does not understand that he or she lives on the ‘battlefield’ on the front lines of the war between God and Satan, does not realize the dangerous minefield they walk in.  The results of this are not rewarding or pleasant. All of us have a sin pattern, ungodly things that we enjoyed doing as a child of the devil, you know yours as well as I know mine. At the point of being saved by the Grace of God, the Mercy of God removed this bondage of demonic control from us, we were set free to live in obedience to the Will of God.

(2Timothy 2:15) Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. When we fail to be diligent, we leave room for the devil to re-enter our clean swept soul and regain a stronghold. This stronghold can last for years, or for the remainder of our life. The devil seeks, along with other worldly influences to destroy our testimony of FAITH in God. Children of God who fail to be obedient to the Will of God, quickly forget that, 1 John 4:4 – You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
