SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Luke 11:5-8
And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves;  ‘for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; “and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? “I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES: Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
Some parables are hard to understand, and it is pertinent to dig deeper in scripture, or to find sources to understand the times and customs of the day when Jesus walked about in Israel and Samaria. Houses in those days were usually of one room. The door to this living area was normally open during the daylight hours and shut and locked during the night time. The entire family slept in this one room and often so did the small animals. Thus, it would be normal for the homeowner to refuse his begging neighbor. Persistence in this request is a factor, just as persistence in prayer is a factor in our calling out to our heavenly Father.

Our Father is not tired, His Throne Room is not shut and locked; this is not the problem. The problem is with the one who is seeking help to meet his or her petition. When we pray, we expect an immediate response but normally there are few things that our Father is searching out in our soul. The main one is – humility! The Holy Spirit does not work with human pride, or any human attribute that stands in the way of Holy Divine intervention. Persistence washes away the attitude that I can do this myself; so I will just let God the Father know what I am doing.

“The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD” – Proverbs 16:1, and “A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps” – Proverbs 16:9. After we finish with the Gospel of Luke, hopefully, we can look into prayer. One thing more. Some of us do not like to hear the words “Divine Intervention” if that is the case with YOU, then why PRAY? Every answered prayer is Divine Intervention to meet our human request, is it NOT? So be persistent, be humbled and watch the Hand of God your Father at work in Divine Intervention. His intervention is perfectly Holy, while your human invention is imperfectly unholy.
