The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 112

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Luke 9:1-6 – The Eternal Plan of God
Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece. “Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart.
“And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”

SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES: Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah

Luke 13:34-35 – “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; and assuredly, I say to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say. ‘Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the LORD!’”
As saints and disciples of the church, we are very blessed to have the ‘Gospels’ all four are written with Jewish dispensation theology. The messages and teaching of Messiah were to turn Israel back to their God, Jehovah/Yahweh. Israel had rejected God for idolatry (the worship of other gods). Israel had forgotten that “El Shaddai” was not only ‘Almighty God’ but He was also the only source of comfort and blessing. Israel also forgot that God was “El Elyon” Israel’s only source of strength and sovereignty. Additionally, Israel forgot “El Roi and El Olan” God who sees everything He created and His Eternality, and His infinite strength.
The gospels are all about Yahweh (Jesus Christ, Messiah) who IS, WHO WAS AND WHO IS TO COME again. Jesus is Jehovah – Jireh, Israel’s provider; Sabbaoth, Lord of the armies; Rophe, Israel’s healer; Shalom, Lord of peace; Nissi, “The battle is the LORD’s”; Tsidkenu, the LORD our Righteousness; Maccaddescheem, the One who sanctifies or makes holy, the One who set Israel apart from other nations. And lastly, Raah, The LORD, the Shepherd. All of these compound words associated with “Elohim” is JESUS/MESSIAH.
As we observe the gospel of Luke and make references to the other gospels, we must understand that Jesus is primarily seeking to restore Israel to the Kingdom of heaven. There are “Light” traces of the future church, but until chapter 13 of Luke and Matthew 23:37-39, everything that takes place is for Israel to repent and return to God.
When churches seek to apply the events of Luke 9:1-6 and other related events to the current church age disciplines, these leaderships are out of line and should be shunned by New Testament saints.
