SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Luke 6:46-49 – The Eternal Plan of God – Jesus
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?  “Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: “He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. “But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

Luke 6:46-49 is a challenge for most of us, we often see ourselves as failing to live up to the standard presented in these words spoken by the LORD. Matthew and Luke record these words as the final challenge at the end of the LORD’s discourse on the Plateau of Korazim. The Matthew passage is 7:24-29. There is only one reference in the Epistles that challenges the children of God to in this way.

Be doers of the Word and not hearers only. James 1:21-27 -Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow (abundance) of wickedness and receive (accept) with meekness (humbleness) the implanted word, which is able to save (deliver) your soul. Without going into expanded detail in this passage in James, let me just add that, and we have said this before, biblical FAITH is not passive, biblical Faith is ACTIVE. To deliver one’s soul into the kingdom of HEAVEN is the gospel of the LORD, who suffered for you and me the PENALITY that we all deserve, DEATH!

The joy of THIS is that Jesus overcame this SIN DEATH and ROSE ALIVE from IT! Notice Hebrews 12:2 – Looking unto Jesus, the author (originator) and finisher (perfecter) of (active) FAITH, who for the JOY that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame (SIN), and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. If you have further meditations today, meditate on 1 Corinthians 15:1-58.

Jesus has perfected salvation by faith to do His Father’s will (John 6:38), He is also the author of it, we have nothing to do but BELIEVE and then WALK by FAITH, Abide in Me, He states because by any other way (religion or self-effort) does not work. The rewards to abide in Christ are as measureless as the sand on the seashore. Read again Luke 6:46-49.
