SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  John 21:25 – The Eternal Plan of God – Jesus
And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES: Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
Here in our nation we do not feel the supernatural effects of the kingdom of heaven, since we are fat with prosperity and not persecuted as other nations are. In some African and Middle East nations, believers in the Christ persecuted and put to death for their confession of faith. These saints live and die, moment by moment in the ‘beatitudes. I would be remiss if I failed to explain that our nation is headed for that same persecution. We can read about the current sufferings around the globe, we can pray too, and we should be praying. We can study and meditate on the beatitudes as we are this morning. This will be a help for the future, but it may amount to little until we are blessed by God to live it out in our daily life.

16   We have physical eyes, but if we are children of God, we also have Spiritual eyes. It is required of God’s children to view the world around us from a spiritual plateau, like the plateau of Mount Korazim. Looking in 1st Peter we read the following; 1:15 and 16 we read, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy. Holiness and spirituality go hand in hand, in other words, you cannot have one without the other. We have only faintly felt the exclusion and insults of unbelievers, but much of that is brought on by our own “false spiritual conduct of being holier than thou.”

17   Luke 6:23 – We children of God seek the rewards promised by the LORD, do we not? The day of persecution is coming and the statement that Jesus makes in this verse is “future tense” we have time to be prepared (as little as it is)! There is ample evidence in the history of the church that serious and severe persecution fell on the church. Throughout the ages, from the first century into the present day, we have the record. The Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, even the Protestant Reformation sparked severe conflicts of persecution. We should never allow our selves to think that Christianity has risen above persecution in this country.

18  So, what am I saying? Luke 6:24-28 – “But woe to you who are rich, for you, have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full, for you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for so did their fathers to the false prophets. Physically it is impossible to love and feed your enemy, or to bless those who persecute you, but if you find yourself praying for those who are enemies you are on the right spiritual highway.
