SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Luke 6:39-42 – The Eternal Plan of God
And He spoke a parable to them: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they, not both fall into the ditch? “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. “And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye? “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First, remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

How important are the words “And He spoke a parable to them”? If you go to a conference or weekend retreat, then you know that at certain times the speaker will take a break so that people can refresh, even the speaker needs a break from time to time. When the conference starts up again, a slight change in the venue can be developed. In this case, I believe the LORD finishes up His conference with parables.

The blind cannot lead another blind man, nor can a brother in Christ remove the speck from the eye of his brother when both are hypocrites. Now it is my personal observation of this section (Luke 6:39-42) that Jesus is referring to religion which is Satan’s tool on earth to deceive many. Yet, it is not just this section, for if you go through the gospels you will see that Jesus/Messiah had a lot to say to the religious leaders of the day; as you may recall He called them blind guides and hypocrites.

That being the case, we can look more closely at His message that is sandwiched between “the blind guide and the hypocrite plank owner!

“A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is FULLY trained will BE LIKE his teacher”. Often hidden among the challenges that God provides for His children we find these nuggets of gold, silver, and precious stone. Jesus desires that we be like Him in this life. The kingdom of heaven is at hand. We are saved by the Blood of the Lamb, we are sanctified by the grace of God and supernaturally speaking, through the power of the Holy Spirit and the knowledge of God’s Word we can be like our teacher, Jesus!

We are a branch of Christ the LORD, who is the True Vine. Jesus states in John 15:4 – “Abide in Me, and I in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. The apostle Paul provides this insight! (NIV) – do your best to present yourself to God as one APPROVED, a WORKMAN who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of Truth. We are to be fully trained in the Person of Christ, therefore, reject all blind guides and religious hypocrites.
