A Devotional – SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES (77)

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Luke 3:21-22 – The Eternal Plan of God - Jesus
When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES: Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
Looking at secular history concerning Tiberius Caesar and his reign over the Roman Empire, we see some important facts regarding the beginning ministry of our LORD. The year was AD 26. Pontus Pilate was governor of Judea and Herod was tetrarch over Galilee. As we discussed in other devotionals, I follow the timeline of C.I. Scofield that places the birth of Jesus around 7 BC, which places the age of our LORD around 32. I have always believed that the ministry of our LORD was three years, but seven years is more likely. Beginning with the baptism of Jesus by John the baptizer also in AD 26.
Isaiah 40:5 is a prophecy around 700BC, it was fulfilled by John the Baptizer and Jesus the Christ in the year 26AD. Seven hundred twenty years plus (give or take a year or two). Messiah begins a public ministry and as you and I know, He will be rejected. He will be tortured beyond recognition. THE LITERAL RENDERING IN GREEK AND HEBREW, to say the least, was TERRIBLE “beyond recognition” So marred that His form as a man was beyond appearing as a human being. Isaiah 52:14 – Just as many were astonished at you, so His visage (appearance) was marred more than any man, And His form, more than the sons of men:
And so, this Babe’s beginning has a terrible ending. An ending like no other in the history of humans on this earth. A visage so brutally re-arranged it would have killed the natural man. Yet the natural man of The Christ did not die, until The LORD, The MESSIAH cried out – “FATHER, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT” Luke 2:46. This loud voice still echoes throughout the world today, can you not hear it? Yes, you can, but especially if you are born into the Kingdom of God by believing in Jesus.
