The Devotional - Psalm 46:10 and others - Knowing God (Part 3)
The
Devotional
Psalm 46:10 – Be Still! and KNOW
that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the
earth!
COMMENT: The variations and number of times that the
Lord God of the Holy Bible states that we (nationally and individually) should ‘know
Him’ is two hundred fifty-three according to “Blueletterbible.com” in the NKJV.
Other versions are around the same number. So, the question that pops up in my
mind is “why; are so many of us who say we believe in God, fail to KNOW Him?
Psa 100:3
NKJV – Know that the LORD, He [is] God; [It is] He [who] has made us, and not
we ourselves; [We are] His people and the sheep of His pasture.
The
bracketed words are not in the original text; thus, the knowledge of God is not
the result of wishful or religious thinking on the part of mankind. It is the
will of God that we should know Him (see Psa 119:73 or Psa 139:13-14). Meditate
on Psalm 100, make the Psalm a part of your day, be still and KNOW the Holy God
of the Living Word of God, you will be blessed, and God will be Glorified,
learn to love God and the people around you.
Also take
hold of John 10:7-18 and 25-30 Jesus knows those who are His and those who
follow Him ought to know Him too! 1 John 4:1-21 – clearly reveals that in order
to know God we must have love for ‘one another’ these are those who are born of
God. His love was manifested to us through the sacrifice of God’s Son, Jesus.
He loves us, He provided appeasement or propitiation for our sins, by the
sinless sacrifice of His Son. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to
love one another (John 4:11).
All of this
said; without loving one another, we will not know God, for God is love. If you
have a fear of knowing or loving God, then you have not consummated (made
intimate) the power of God’s will for you. God is personal, and you will never
get to know Him through the spirit of error which is religion.
