The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 766

Today’s Kick Start! (NKJV) Psalm 27 1The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Personal Obedience—Walk in the Spirit and you will not carry out the deeds of the flesh.

Acts 10 34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. 35 But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. 36 The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all— 37 that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. 39 And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. 40 Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, 41 not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. 42 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. 43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

Isaiah 64 6 For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him. Cornelius is waiting, he and his family are present with the apostle Peter who has been with Jesus from the beginning. Peter may have been present at the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptizer, (for certain John the apostle was) if he were he would be witness to the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus at the very beginning of His Ministry on earth.

Peter is about to witness for the third time, the descending of God the Holy Spirit. First on the Messiah, then on the 120 Jewish disciples of Christ in the upper room, and now on the Cornelius and his household of gentiles. Peter the man who denied that he knew Jesus three time is now seeing for the third time the power of God the Holy Spirit available to the Jew first and now the Gentile. The door to eternity with God is open wide to all the world to believe.

Peter then, is certainly the qualified witness to the events of God the Holy Spirit on and for all people who wait for Him. Just as the prophet like Isaiah records the coming Prince of Peace in a very familiar verse of scripture; notice Isaiah 9 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Within these thirty-five words the entire ministry of the Messiah is revealed. It is a message to the world of the coming kingdom of God on earth. The birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus is just the beginning; for more on this truth in the book of Isaiah; see Isaiah 53.

So Cornelius who is knowingly familiar with God our Peace and Righteousness is waiting eagerly with his family and friends to receive the message of the gospel of the grace of God. God is already revealed His love to all mankind. Like our world, even today, we are not naïve and we have no excuse; we know of God. Words like; In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1, Psalm 19:1 or Isaiah 9:6, even John 14:6, and Romans 1:19-20). The word of God holds all humans (past, present, and future) in the world to do only one accountable thing which is too BELIEVE, believe what? Isaiah 64 6 For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him. God’s grace is on all who believe in Jesus.
