Today’s Kick Start! –(NKJV) Proverbs 1 My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother; For they will be a graceful ornament on your head, And chains about your neck.
Personal Obedience—Walk in the Spirit and you will not carry out the deeds of the flesh.
Acts 9 36 At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. 37 But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. 38 And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. 39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. 41 Then he gave her his hand and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed on the Lord. 43 So it was that he stayed many days in Joppa with Simon, a tanner.
JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!
Lydda! Certainly you have met a person like her in your lifetime, she is the not the Sunday school teacher. She’s the one who always comforts other women in the church who need a touch of love. I do not find it strange that there are not many Lydda’s in a congregation since I believe that these women are selected by the Lord for just that purpose. Talented with various gifts of godly help, they readily meet the needs of the other women in the church.
Everyone I know experiences illnesses, the Lydda’s in our life are no exception, but the one thing I notice is their illness is not a burden to others, it is not the focal point of their ministry and usually, expectantly, that illness over takes them and they are gone to be with the Lord. To the women’s ministry this is a serious event.
In our churches today as we suffer with Spiritual misunderstanding. We desire to see people raised from the dead and we find some church leaderships doing all sorts of activities to bring this back to the church. I am not here to deny this—God does raise the dead and if you are His child by faith in the Christ—He will raise you too, the time will be at His command, not man. My understanding to this is simply this.
There are at this time in the church [AD 33 through AD95] no New Testament literature, all scripture referred to by men who wrote the New Testament are references of the Old Testament. On the other side of this coin (so to speak) God gave the apostles gifts of healing and restoration of life to establish their ministries as belonging to God, they did not do these works to bring focus on themselves, this why the apostle Peter made everyone leave the room. As with all of the apostles, his communication in this event with the Christ was personal, not public.
