The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 759

Today’s Kick Start! –(NKJV) 2 Corinthians 1 20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God,

Personal Obedience—Walk in the Spirit and you will not carry out the deeds of the flesh.

Acts 9 32 Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all parts of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda. 33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. 34 And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately. 35 So all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

It seems abrupt that the events of the Holy Spirit shift from Saul to the apostle Peter; Saul is sent or taken to his home town in Tarsus. He is not mentioned again until AD 43/44 (chapter 13 of Acts). This is roughly seven to nine years after his conversion to the Messiah. during this time Saul becomes fully known as Paul the apostle to the Gentiles. The Jews, both the saved and the unsaved seek the death of Saul and eventually this is carried out in Rome.

It is God via the work of the Holy Spirit that causes men, women, and children to become friendly with Him (God). We call this ‘reconciliation’ In the early church this reconciliation to the Messiah was accomplished by the acts of the apostles and disciples who were ‘filled with the Holy Spirit’. These men took no human credit for the work of God as the Holy Spirit moved them. Notice what the apostle Peter says (Acts 9:34a 34 And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you).

The Holy Spirit magnifies the Name of Jesus the Christ/Messiah, the Spirit of God does not magnify Himself. John 15 26 When the Counselor comes, the one I will send to you from the Father —the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—he will testify about me. 27 You also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning. Spiritual events, that is ‘of God’ does not take human credit, this form of reconciliation would be considered demonic.

Today’s church is over 2,000 years removed from the events recorded for us in the book of Acts. This does ‘in no way’ change the mode of God. God does not change as He is the same yesterday, today and forever, see Hebrew 13 8; It is the people who are saved that have changed the economy of God; that is, the careful management of the available resources that God has provided have been misused, abused, and rejected. Our effectiveness as a disciple of the Christ are paralyzed  like Aeneas because we fail to be suited up in the armor God provides—Ephesians 6:10-20.
