The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 716

Today’s Kick Start! (NKJV) Psalm 23 1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

Personal Obedience—(NKJV) The Lamb of God is THE LORD who IS our Passover.

Acts 1 1The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up [ascended], after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs [cannot be ignored], being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

The days of the ministry of Messiah on the earth is nearing and end, in forty days Jesus will ascend into heaven—His home and as adopted children of God our future home too. At the end of these forty days the Holy Spirit will assume command of the economy of God on earth. The Church will carry on all the events that Jesus put in place while He was in His ministry on earth. Luke the writer of the book of Acts is also the writer of the gospel of Luke. He addressed both books to a friend—Theophilus.

One more thing about Luke and his writings of the Gospel according to Luke and the Book of Acts. Both are well written and well accepted by the early church, someone has said that the gospel of Luke is; "The gospel according to St. Luke has been called the loveliest book in the world. It would not be far wrong to say that the third gospel [Luke] is the best life of Christ ever written”. So we could understand that the Book of Acts is best and loveliest description of the acts of the Holy Spirit ever written.

I feel a heaviness of heart about this in that the church today seems to be ignorant of this in that we are much like the church of Laodica in the 3rd chapter of the book of Revelation 3 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. The Messiah is long suffering, Yet Jesus still through the Holy Spirit reaches out—Revelation 3 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
