The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 715

Today’s Kick Start! (NKJV) 1 John 4 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Personal Obedience—(NKJV) The Lamb of God is THE LORD who IS our Passover.

John  21 15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of [b]Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” 16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep. 18 Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” 19 This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.”

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

Here we are at the end of John’s Gospel, yet we are not at the end of a storybook. Stories have an ending, but The TRUTH of God is FOREVER. This thought should bring joy to our soul; that is if we are born again! We are given EVERLASTING life and when we go to be with the LORD we will be in the JOY of God’s Truth forever. We do not know what it is to be free from SIN and DEATH, but we learn from scripture, that as believers in Christ that when we are absent from this body of sin and death we will be present with the LORD, sin and death does not exist in heaven.

1 John 3 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. John’s Gospel is all about the love of God and this 21st chapter reveals that Jesus understands and monitors each of us by our love for Him. The likeness of Jesus in us is His revelation of love, “for God so loved the world”. This is not news to any of us, as we know that we are to love one another.

John 13 34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”  Seventy-three times John mentions the love revealed from Jesus; 39 times in the gospel, 27 times in his epistle of 1 John, 4 times in 2 John, and  3 times in his 3rd epistle. I believe that if we were to ask John what he considered most important for us to know, his reply would be that he IS loved by the Messiah and SO ARE YOU!
