The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 697

Today’s Kick Start! (NKJV) John 6 28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

Personal Obedience—(NKJV) The Lamb of God is THE LORD who IS our need.

John 6 41 The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.” 42 And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” 43 Jesus therefore answered and said to them,  “Do not murmur among yourselves. 44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. 46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. 47 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes [j]in Me has everlasting life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He IS God Forever!

Jesus is reminding those who are following Him that eternal life is not about, physical or material prosperity. In general the people around Him understood that He was a man, born with parents—Mary and Joseph, they did not understand the virgin birth and many may not have heard anything of that event. Recall with me the events with the woman at the well in Samaria. John 4 25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.’ See  Daniel 7:13 and Mark 13:26. Most everyone was blind to the 1st Advent of the Messiah as they expected Him to come in great power and glory.

Messiah came to seek and to save that which was lost—who are the lost? The lost are those whom Jesus, who is God draws to Himself. God the Father draws, God the Holy Spirit convicts, and Jesus gives His Life. He is the manna from God to all of the lost. Matthew 28 16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

The message of the gospel of God does not change, God is not willing that anyone should perish, but if some fail to trust and remain in doubt, they will perish.
