The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 601

Today’s Kick Start! – (NKJV) Amos 4:12 – “Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel; Because I will do this to you, Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”

 

The Minor Prophets – The study of the minor prophets is shamefully neglected these days. Only bits and pieces of the books are well known, yet the truths that lay within the writings are never revealed. For example; is the ‘kick start’ for today,… Amos 4:12… ‘prepare to meet your God, O Israel!’ or Micah 6:8…to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God. Hosea 4:1…’there is no truth or mercy, or knowledge of God in the land.’ The full verse, the context, and the reason these prophets spoke are neglected, but these prophets are very dated for our day.

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, He Forever, IS God!

I am weary of what I see going on in our nation, I could well hope that you are weary too! From anger to remorse the development in my mind is a sincere lack of confidence in our nations future. STOP! I say to my thoughts! Where does TRUSTING God fit in the unknown terrors we currently face. Long before our current day, many nations faced destruction.

Just look, if you will at the book of Amos…’for three transgressions and for four’…Damascus, Gaza, Tyre, Edom, Ammon, and Moab, including Judah and Israel faced disciplinary action from God. Now why would that be? The known world then, is like the known world today! The sins recorded in the book of Amos are the very sins committed by the world today.

Romans 1 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

 

Do you what CHANGE? No doubt you do! The solution is reachable—Romans 1: 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Faith in God must be ACTIVE and PERSONAL – God calls us to faith through the Blood of Christ and He requires us to participate in that faith by TRUSTING Him moment by moment. When we do; Fear and doubt for the conditions of the world around us fade away and the JOYS of a personal loving relationship with our Creator ‘OVERTAKE’ the ‘OVERCOMERS’—you and I. AMEN!
