The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 540

Today’s Kick -Start! Psalm 119  169 Let my cry come before You, O Lord; Give me understanding according to Your word. 170 Let my supplication come before You; Deliver me according to Your word. 171 My lips shall utter praise, For You teach me Your statutes. 172 My tongue shall speak of Your word, For all Your commandments are righteousness.

1 John 4:17-19 (CJB) United with God as He has given us His Spirit

17 Here is how love has been brought to maturity with us: as the Messiah is, so are we in the world. This gives us confidence for the Day of Judgment. 18 There is no fear in love. On the contrary, love that has achieved its goal gets rid of fear, because fear has to do with punishment; the person who keeps fearing has not been brought to maturity in regard to love. 19 We ourselves love now because he loved us first.

JESUS CHRIST: He IS the same Yesterday, He IS the same Today, for Forever, IS God!

John 15:5 (CJB) “I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who stay united with me, and I with them, are the ones who bear much fruit; because apart from me you cannot do a thing. Speaking only from the experience of being saved at a late age (35) in life, the struggle of abiding in Christ is significant. There is a great deal of upbringing that was wrong, yet and still embedded in my heart. Clearing out the wrong is like wading through a swamp covered over with worthless rubbish (dross).

Now true, the LORD Jesus Christ did deliver me and I am set free from the swamp—I really do not need to return to the circumstances that kept me so far from the LOVE of God. It is the love of God that rescued, it is the love of God that provided trust and hope. If I am being tormented by the circumstance of life then the love of God is NOT achieving its goal in me. We must stop living in the old self of the past. Maturing in Christ is not a desire of the human nature, that would bring Christ down to our level—God forbid!

We are called by God to mature in love, just as God loves us. As Jesus IS, so ought we to BE! This is the only way to have confidence at the Judgment Seat of Christ. There is no fear found in the love of God. This is contrary to the love of God since it is God’s Will for all of His children to allow the love of God to achieve its intended goal. NO FEAR! It is serious Spiritual business for all of God’s children to seek maturity in the love of God—just as the apostle John records: 1 John 4:20 (CJB) 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar. For if a person does not love his brother, whom he has seen, then he cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

In the flesh there is no good thing, even the good will love from a fleshly minded person is by nature WRONG and leads to wrong motivations. Do not take my words for this—search the scriptures and allow God to speak to you.
