Esther 2 New King James Version (NKJV)
Esther Becomes Queen
1After these things, when the wrath of King Ahasuerus subsided, he remembered Vashti, what she had done, and what had been decreed against her. Then the king’s servants who attended him said: “Let beautiful young virgins be sought for the king; and let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather all the beautiful young virgins to Shushan the citadel, into the women’s quarters, under the custody of Hegai the king’s eunuch, custodian of the women. And let beauty preparations be given them. Then let the young woman who pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti.” This thing pleased the king, and he did so… Please read the entire chapter two.
Esther – Meditation in The Wisdom and knowledge of God

Esther, having no mother or father in her life, matured obediently under the guidance of her uncle Mordecai. Although not impossible today, it would be rare to find an uncle today who would give his niece this opportunity for survival. This is not to say that, in those days the Middle East was a safe place to raise children, but it does mean that God is in control of all human life and those who respond to this ‘truth’ follow God and His lead.

From the third year of the reign of King Ahasuerus, until the inauguration of Queen Esther four years will elapse. The point is this; Current events in the kingdom of King Ahasuerus continue as normal, civil and political plots to dethrone the king were not uncommon, and as an afterthought, some may have disliked the dethroning of the queen. Government corruption and crimes against the government were as popular then as they are today in the Middle East, even throughout the world, all national entities currently suffer the task of maintaining control.

Mordecai was a man who could be trusted, he sat at the gate, in other words; he was aware of the current events of his day, he ‘saw and observed’ that is; If you see something, say something! He reacted to the things he heard and saw, and so he made it known to Queen Esther the plot to kill King Ahasuerus. It is noteworthy to say that Esther did not seek to take credit for knowing of this plot; as scripture reveals that she informed the king in Mordecai’s name. This beginning of accurate truth given to the king will infuriate some, but we do not want to forget. God is in control.
