Christ’s Example to Be Followed

2 Peter 1:5-11 – Fruitful Growth in the Faith
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jesus, the Christ, God’s Messiah
Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1 John 1:1-4 – THAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life – the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us – that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you may also have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write to you, that your (our) joy might be full.

I feel certain that we may spend a few days looking into 2 Peter 1:5-11, as the most important subject in all of the Word of God, is God and His Christ (Messiah), the other most important subject in all of the Word of God is that we know Him by FAITH. We who are the children of God became His children through ONE avenue of intellect. By faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. (Hebrews 11:3).

There are not many ‘prepositions’ in the Holy Bible that are highlighted to make us aware or to call attention to the subject, yet we find this ONE in 1 John 1. The very first word of 1 John 1:1 we see that the word ‘THAT’ is in capital letters drawing our attention to the subject – GOD who is the MAIN subject of the entire Holy Bible. Now, we know this, do we not? But we do not KNOW this ENOUGH, do we? Our eternal destiny, if we are born again children of God, is to be with God FOREVER. It is sad that many of God’s children live for the – hereandnow, rather than the hereafter. The only reason we live for the hereandnow is because our faith is not maturing (growing) and we are not fruitful children of God.
