The Devotional – Search the Scriptures – 217

(Matt. 27:1, 2, 11–14; Mark 15:1–5; John 18:28–38 )
Luke 23:1-5 – Then the whole multitude of them arose and led Him to Pilate. And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.” Then Pilate asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered him and said, “It is as you say.” So, Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no fault in this Man.” But they were the more fierce, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.”

The contrast or juxtaposition of religion and Truth is, even to this day, a daily battle throughout the world. In this small portion of scripture this morning we see clearly that the war that rages against God is controlled by Satan through or by religion. The whole multitude of people; who are religious Jews, use the lies of the devil to seek an injustice against their MESSIAH. In John 18:28 we can see this clearly. It is early Friday morning, the Jews bring Jesus to the governor’s headquarters, but they themselves would not go in because they did not what to defile themselves by entering a gentile domain so they could eat the Passover later that day.

Back on Monday the day after the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem; the Jews will observe the Passover Lamb and in four days put Him to death. Unwittingly fulfilling the ordnance with the Day of the Passover. The First Passover; Exodus 12. Now the religious Jews will observe the Last Passover LAMB and find no fault in Him. Without one blemish and they have to manufacture lies and accusations against Him, but a Gentile leader sees through their lies (Pilot), and asks the LORD, “Are you the King of the Jews?” and Jesus answered, “it is as you say.”

The days of our lives today are dark with religion, by the way, secular humanism is a religion as all ‘isms’ are. Don’t be fooled by the devil, wake up! As a little sleep, a little slumber and a little folding of the hands to sleep – so shall your poverty come on you like a robber, and your need like an armed man, Proverbs 6:10-11.
