Luke 20:27-33 – Then some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, came to Him and asked Him, saying: “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies, having a wife, and he dies without children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. “Now there were seven brothers. And the first took a wife and died without children. “And the second took her as wife, and he died childless. “Then the third took her, and in like manner the seven also; and they left no children and died. “Last of all the woman died also. “Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife does she become, for all seven had her as wife?”

Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah

This is a great passage to explain the deceitfulness of religion, religions that reject the power of God and multiplies human reasoning among the various doctrines developed by man and not by God are demonic and not useful to the child of God. High ranking human officials in religion, deny the physical resurrection of the Messiah and persuade their congregations that they should follow the path of reincarnation. The root of this teaching is found in Greek Mythology. We should not think that the Sadducees were following biblical Truth. Quite the opposite as far back as the 7th century BC, Greek coins used by Herod were engraved with the lion, the dragon and the goat, a symbol of reincarnation.

In Marks gospel, (Mark 12:24-25) Jesus replied – “Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not KNOW THE SCRIPTURES, NOR THE POWER OF GOD? For when they RISE from the dead, they neither marry, nor given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.” Jesus confronts the Sadducees with another Truth that they are missing in their religion, God is not a god of dead men. 

He is the GOD of the living as God reveals to Moses regarding Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in Exodus 3:1-6 and confirms this truth in Acts 7:30-32. Throughout time, God has, in many infallible ways, spoke through His prophets. Men like the Sadducees refused to believe. But God who is longsuffering has in these last days spoken to us through His Son the LORD Jesus. Jesus is the anointed, appointed ONE who created all things, and the worlds. Jesus is the Messiah, the Firstfruits of the resurrection. If you believe by personal faith in the gospel of God in Christ, you like Him will be raised from the dead, you will be with Him throughout all eternity – Even so, come LORD Jesus/Messiah.
