Luke 18:18 – 23 Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” So, Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. “You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” So, when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, He said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! “For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah

The LORD does not condemn this man or anyone for that matter, for being rich or for their position of authority in a local community. Wealth and status do not hinder a person or block the kingdom of God from anyone. The omniscience of Christ is present in the comments of Jesus with this person, like “You know the commandments” and “you still lack one thing”. The Christ, who is God knows all things, including our soul. Jesus knew the little children; “Let the little children come to Me, for such is the kingdom of God.” Thus, it is very possible to keep the ‘LETTER’ of the Law and ignore ‘FAITH’ in the ONE who gave the Law.

Salvation is by grace! Grace includes LOVE and MERCY, or better said, ‘ALL OF GOD’S CHARACTER’ is present and given to all who believe that Jesus is the Christ, that He willingly died for your sin and the sin of the world and that He rose from the dead on the third day just as recorded in 1 Corinthians 15:1-5 and in many other passages. The rich young ruler became downtrodden because he would have to give up self-righteousness for God’s perfect Righteousness. The absolute Characteristics of God are realized by every child of God who…

Romans 13:11-14 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now, our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore, let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
