SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Matthew 7:24-28
“Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
The week ahead for us, “God’s children” is of great significance. This week exceeds the Birth of Jesus in spiritual priority and on the LORD’s Day, the Sunday following, at His resurrection, the suffering Messiah becomes the King of kings and the LORD of lords. We will look at some of the highlights of this week through the prophet Isaiah, then return to our study in Luke. The week of suffering will climax as you know with the death and burial of Christ/Messiah.

The crucifixion of Christ/Messiah provides love and redemption to Israel and the world, but Isaiah clearly says: “Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?” (Isaiah 53:1) As having faith in Christ the questions are rhetorical, we know the answers, that all the world lies under the sway of the devil. 1 John 5:19 – We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.

This week of suffering that only God Himself could provide the world is the gospel. So, what is the gospel? God prepared and delivered the only message that the world needs to hear. The message is a good message, it is the report of the Holy Righteousness of God providing, Holy Justice for every person (Jew and gentile) of this world needs to believe. Excerpts from Isaiah 53!

The Christ is a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken. (did not respect Him) Smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes, we are healed.

This week we need to focus our attention on Jesus, read the gospel accounts as Jesus prepares Himself as the Lamb of God, the sacrificial offering of God given to the world. Jesus has taken upon Himself the entire sin of the world. None of us can wrap our minds around this truth with any wisdom known to mankind. This TRUTH can only be understood by FAITH! Faith in the Holy Righteousness and Justice of God Himself. As Abraham explained to Isaac (Gen 22:8) “My son, God will provide for Himself a burnt offering.”
