SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  Luke 8:19-21 – The Eternal Plan of God
Then His mother and brothers came to Him and could not approach Him because of the crowd. And it was told to Him by some who said. “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside desiring to see You.” But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the Word of God and do it.”

SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES: Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
Both Matthew and Mark comment of Jesus, regarding Mary His mother, and His brothers desiring to meet with Jesus. His comments to the multitude and those who explained to Him that these were outside wanting to see Him, seem strange. Without understanding, some would consider Jesus as cruel and unloving, but is this not true with all of the Word of God for those who doubt? So how does one get beyond being offended by what Jesus says? People are offended by their own ‘personal pre-disposition’ this is a ‘bias’ or a ‘doubt’ to look for something that will confirm their pre-disposed belief.

Since both Mathew and Mark comment on this passage in Luke and since we do not see a specific cross-reference in the gospel of John we want to think or believe that Jesus was indifferent to His family and that the apostle John desires to cover this up! This is a thought resulting from doubt, the apostle John had much to say about the earthly family of our Savior. Note John 2:1, or John 19:25. Throughout John’s gospel, we find several references of Jesus and His earthly family.

Thus, everything about Jesus, His Words, His compassion, and His Mission must be accepted by FAITH. Faith is the only way that the SPIRIT of God can minister to you and me. Faith is the doorway that accepts Jesus at His Word when He speaks. When He states that the ‘kingdom of heaven’ is at hand! He, Jesus is the kingdom of heaven and He is at hand to everyone who believes. In Hebrews 13:8 we read; “Jesus is the same, yesterday, today, and forever.” This is not a verse of scripture to memorize, it should be RESIDENT in our SOUL which is far greater than plain ‘rote memory!’ In other words – Jesus who is the kingdom of heaven at Hand, is the One who is resident in our soul; see John 1:32-34, 1 Corinthians 3:16 and 2 Corinthians 3:15-18.
