A Devotional - SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES (89)

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:  John 21:25 – The Eternal Plan of God – Jesus
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which if they should be written, everyone. I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.

SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES: Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
It is interesting to me that during AD27 to 29 while the LORD was in Galilee the apostle John has little to say until the spring of AD 29. However, the others; Matthew, Mark, and Luke, have plenty to say.
7.      Jesus calls four more men to follow Him. Matthew 4:18-22, Mark 1:16-20 and Luke 5:1-11. Looking at the Matthew account. In this, I like the KJV comment of Jesus to Peter and Andrew. “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.” James and John were called next. We do not hear or read from Matthew what Jesus said to them, but when these two men heard the call, they immediately left their father and work and followed Him. Perhaps the four men were close by and all four heard the same message.
8.      Mark 1:21-34 – In Capernaum, at the synagogue, Jesus began to teach; the people were astonished at His teaching as He taught as one having authority. It would be nice to use this authority in our churches today, would it not? Even the demons who were in this local assembly knew Jesus. Demonic activity is alive and well in our church services today. The problem is, that the LORD has given His church power over such activity, but we fail to use it for fear of being embarrassed or other such nonsense.
9.      The LORD Jesus in His time on this earth did more in His years of ministry than the entire church has done over the last 2 thousand years. If you read and study His Life, it was a journey no one could understand or keep up with. Even His disciples marveled over the events in the Life of Jesus. Continuing in Mark 1, Jesus relieves the fever of Peter’s mother-in-law and she ministers nourishment to them, a leper is healed of his disease and many others are healed of illness as well. See also Matthew 8:14-17 and Luke 4:38-41.
Matthew 28:18-20 – And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
